Choose your schooling arrangement: Options include a home-based private school, an existing private school, a qualified private tutor, or a public independent-study program. Requirements differ by arrangement. For a home-based private school: File the annual Private School Affidavit and maintain the required school and attendance records. Provide instruction in English in the required subjects. Follow the current filing calendar, including instructions for a newly established school. Confirm services before enrolling: An affidavit is a filing, not state approval. Public independent study and parentally chosen private education have different special education arrangements; discuss your child’s services with the responsible district.
